Course Description
This course is designed to make industrial and construction workers aware of the hazards of working in confined spaces (such as tanks, manholes, silos, vessels, and tunnels). The program provides students with essential information on toxic gases, oxygen deficiency, Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, and emergency rescue procedures. After completing the course, workers will be able to safely perform confined space operations and prevent accidents in accordance with OSHA and international safety standards.

Syllabus (Topics Covered Under This Subject)
Within this single subject ("Confined Space Safety and Hazard Awareness"), students will be taught these important topics:
- Introduction to Confined Spaces: Definition and examples of Confined space and Permit-Required Confined Space (PRCS).
- Hazard Identification: Atmospheric hazards (depletion of oxygen, toxic and flammable gases) and physical hazards (engulfment, heat stress, mechanical faults).
- Roles & Responsibilities: Duties of Authorized Entrant (who goes in), Attendant/Hole Watch (who stands outside), and Entry Supervisor.
- Permit-to-Work (PTW) System: What is Confined space entry permit, its checklist, and rules for permit cancellation.
- Atmospheric Testing & Ventilation: Use of 4-gas detectors, acceptable limits (LEL, O2 levels, CO, H2S), and proper ventilation/purging techniques.
- PPE & Rescue Equipment: Basic introduction to safety harness, tripods, winches, and respiratory protection (SCBA/Airline).
- Emergency & Rescue Procedures: How to perform a non-entry rescue (rescue from outside) in case of an emergency and emergency alarm protocols.
